Cotonou (Reuters)-the Government thwart coup attempt against President Thomas Boni Yayi of Benin, so the contents of an official statement issued on Sunday.
An army officer and several more people were arrested because of their attempts to dissuade Yayi home from the trip and set up military regime, said the statement issued by Justin Gbenamet, a Prosecutor in the Western African country.
Yayi was doing five-day trip to Japan to seek support for the stability in the region of the Sahel, which is on the southern edge of the Sahara desert in Africa.
The area had been frequently used by the Al Qaida branch network in North Africa, AQIM.
Benin is a country that most recently hit by an attempted coup in recent years in African countries that use the language of France.
