... menyebar sayembara seharga 40.000 dolar Amerika Serikat... "

Obama Expects Michelle Flack After Wing Joint Dinner

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

This wouldn't be the first time President Obama has gotten in trouble with his wife Michelle for eating junk out on the campaign trail, but this time health conscious Michelle may be upset for an entirely different reason.

When the president stopped by Roscoe's House of Chicken and Waffles in West L.A. Monday night, he confided to manager David Daviston that he was going to catch flack for it back home. But he didn't expect healthy eater in chief Michelle Obama to be bummed because her husband ordered the distinctly unhealthy "No. 9, 'Country Boy,'" which included three wings and a waffle slathered in butter and syrup. Rather, he thought she'd be irritated that he stopped by the wing joint without her. Even the most diligent health nuts have their guilty pleasures and Roscoe's is one of Michelle's according to Daviston, who says the Obamas have dined with him before. [See photos of the Obamas behind the scenes.]

"Yeah, Obama said he knew he was going to be hearing from his wife and daughters when they found out he'd stopped by without them," restaurant manager David Daviston says.

Obama didn't just hoard the chicken for himself though, he also ordered for aides Valerie Jarrett, Jay Carney, David Plouffe, and Marvin Nicholson.

Daviston didn't let Obama leave without a peace offering. The manager sent Obama on his way with a case of blueberry pomegranate Pit Bull energy drinks knowing that chicken and waffles wouldn't last on a trip back to the White House.

"Obama took the drinks for his family, I don't know who'll end up with 'em maybe Secret Service if they need the extra boost," Daviston says. [See political cartoons about President Obama.]

Obama isn't the first commander and chief to stop by Roscoe's, but Daviston says his visit was one of the most relaxed.

"Usually, when the president comes, his Secret Service is really bossy and you don't get to shake the president's hand or anything. This time, Obama just walked around the restaurant, chatting with people. It was a nice visit." [See photos of Michelle Obama.]

One young guest Obama stopped to shake hands with was so moved by the experience that he swore he'd never wash his hand again.

Michelle Obama as Which Woody Allen Diva?

AppId is over the quota
AppId is over the quota

She's starred in two TV shows, Iron Chef America and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, so maybe it's time for first lady Michelle Obama to step up to the big screen. At least that's the idea of three-time Academy Award winning writer and director Woody Allen.

He told Britain's Daybreak TV show that he'd like to get her in one of his movies. "If I was in a room with Michelle Obama and I thought she was right for a part, I wouldn't hesitate to ask her," he said.

[See photos of Michelle Obama.]

Allen has a record of casting political wives: His most recent film, Midnight in Paris, features a performance by Carla Bruni, the wife of French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Now we don't know if Allen already has a script or idea for the first lady. Maybe he's thinking of reprising one of his older movies with Obama as the female lead.

[Read: Michelle Obama Trained on the Teleprompter Too.]

The best examples might be Annie Hall, played by Diane Keaton in the sometimes awkward love story. Or Bananas, with the lead played by Louise Lasser a political activist who withholds her love until Allen's character becomes a banana republic president. How about Husbands and Wives, and the role played by Mia Farrow who, with Allen, discover faults in their marriage after their best friends announce they're separating. And finally maybe Small Time Crooks, about a loser and his wife opening a restaurant as a front to dig into a neighboring bank to strike it rich, only to witness that the cookies made by the wife, played by Tracey Ullmann, earn the duo big bucks.

No Fancy Garden-To-Kitchen Chute for Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama, the White House gardener-in-chief and resident foodie, was clearly wowed recently  while helping out on ABC's Extreme Home Makeover, star Ty Pennington install a tube like those banks use at drive-up tellers to shoot veggies from a garden to the kitchen.

But despite her excitement, she's not going to have one dug on the South Lawn linking the White House to her veggie garden. "I know she did like it," said White House curator William G. Allman, "but the White House garden is a long ways from the kitchen."

He adds that while the Obamas prefer modern style interiors, the kitchen hasn't undergone any drastic make overs to accommodate the first lady's healthy cooking push. "It's widely known that she uses fresh vegetable from her garden for meals and fresh honey from the bee hive, but so far she hasn't needed any new equipment for healthier eating," says Allman. [See photos of Michelle Obama.]

He spoke to Whispers during an advanced showing of an exhibit of 95 White House objects of historical note. The exhibit is called "Something of Splendor: Decorative Arts from the White House," and is at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

The exhibition was organized in honor of the 50th anniversary of the White House Historical Association which funds acquisitions of historic furnishings and artwork for the White House permanent collection and assists preserving the public rooms.

Michelle Obama's Africa Trip Cost More Than $432,142

October 4, 2011 Print

First lady Michelle Obama's family trip to South Africa and Botswana in June cost taxpayers well over $424,000, according to new accounting based on Air Force manifests obtained by Judicial Watch, a taxpayer watchdog group.

The use of Air Force aircraft alone for the June 21-27 trip cost $424,142, said the group, and that doesn't include the food, lodging, and ground transportation for the 21 family and staff members.

[See photos of the Obamas abroad.]

Judicial Watch said it based the jet costs on the Pentagon's hourly rates for the C-32A aircraft used for the trip. The documents don't give exact cost calculations, which is typical for presidential and first family trips.

The White House this afternoon disputed the costs calculated by Judicial Watch. "The number stated is misconstrued and out of context. The hourly rate is not the marginal cost of operation the plane - it is an accounting figure that prices in a number of fixed costs from maintaining the Air Force fleet for this kind of plane over a year," said an official. "For example, it includes estimated replacement parts, depreciation, repairs, and costs that would have been incurred regardless of this flight. Also, for security reasons Mrs. Obama must fly on military aircraft." Also, during her good-will mission, the first lady attended five to seven official events daily.

Obama is like many first ladies, spending summers traveling on good-will missions, sometimes with family and friends. On the June trip, during which she was accompanied by her daughters and mother, the first lady urged young people to engage with their governments and she pushed her education and wellness agenda. They also took a safari in South Africa, well known for its beautiful Lion King-like settings.

The costs of the trips have often won media scorn, as did her trip to Spain the previous summer.

[See photos of Michelle Obama.]

But presidential experts say that the value of first lady visits is priceless, especially in cases like Obama's to Africa where the first family has special ties and where the president has been pursuing a personal agenda, especially in Kenya, the home of his father.

Here is a link to the Judicial Watch files and their release:

Charges for the Aircraft and Crew Alone Amount to $424,142

Contact Information:

Washington, DC -- October 4, 2011

Judicial Watch, the organization that investigates and fights government corruption, announced today that it has obtained mission expense records and passenger manifests from the United States Air Force related to the June 21-27, 2011, trip taken by First Lady Michelle Obama, her family and her staff to South Africa and Botswana. Judicial Watch obtained the documents pursuant to an August 19, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. U.S. Air Force (No. 11-1496)). Judicial Watch is investigating the purpose and itinerary of the trip as well as a breakdown of the costs to taxpayers.

On June 28, 2011, Judicial Watch filed a FOIA request seeking the mission taskings, transportation records, and passenger manifests for Michelle Obama's Africa trip. Documents were only provided after Judicial Watch filed suit:

• According to U.S. Department of Defense's published hourly rates for the C-32A aircraft used for the trip, Judicial Watch calculated the total cost to American taxpayers was $424,142 for use of the aircraft (34.8 flight hours x $12,188 per hour). (The C-32 is a specially configured military version of the Boeing 757.) Other expenses - meals (off the plane), transportation, security, various services, etc. - have yet to be disclosed.

• The passenger manifests confirm the presence of Obama's daughter's, Malia and Sasha on the trip. The two girls are listed as "Senior Staff." The manifests also list Mrs. Obama's mother, Marian Robinson, and niece and nephew, Leslie and Avery Robinson, as well Mrs. Obama's makeup and hairstylist (Carl Ray and Johnny Wright).

• The expense records also show $928.44 was spent for "bulk food" purchases on flight. Overall, during the trip, 192 meals were served for the 21 passengers on board.

The professed purpose of Michelle Obama's trip to South Africa and Botswana was to encourage young people living in the two growing democracies to become involved in national affairs; and during her scheduled stops in Pretoria and Cape Town, South Africa and in Gaborone, the capital of Botswana, the First Lady used the opportunity to speak on education, health and wellness issues.

The trip also included such tourist events as visits to historical landmarks and museums, plus a nonworking chance to send time with Nelson Mandela, a meeting that Mrs. Obama described as "surreal." The trip ended with a private family safari at a South African game reserve before the group returned to Washington on June 27.

"This trip was as much an opportunity for the Obama family to go on a safari as it was a trip to conduct government business," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "This junket wasted tax dollars and the resources of our overextended military. No wonder we had to sue to pry loose this information."

Previously, Judicial Watch uncovered that the First Couple's 2009 "date night" trip to New York for dinner and a Broadway show cost taxpayers over $11,000 in Secret Service costs alone.
