Secretary General of the UNITED NATIONS peacekeeping soldiers arrest a curse in the Golan

United Nations, New York (Reuters)-U.N. Secretary-general Ban Ki-moon, on Wednesday (6/3), condemned the detention of UN peacekeeping soldiers by the evils of armed in the Golan Heights.

"The Secretary General condemns the detention of 21 soldiers of the peacekeeping forces of the UN Observers Separation (UNDOF) by the evils around Al-armed in the area restrictions and Jamla calling for their release as soon as possible," the contents of the statement issued by ban's spokesman, Xinhua reported.

The Security Council establishes UNDOF in May 1974, after fighting between Israel and Syria in the Golan Heights. UNDOF mandate to keep holding the ceasefire between the parties, and to monitor the implementation of separation of Forces Agreement--which was signed by both parties and called for the establishment of a single area of the separator and the limited forces and weapons between the two sides.

According to some reports, a group of more than 20 soldiers detained by the UNDOF peacekeeping the evils which have ties with armed opposition to Syria on Wednesday morning in the area of limitation in the Golan Heights in Syria.

In a statement, the UN Chief's reminds all principals in Syria that UNDOF was given the mandate to monitor the separation of Forces Agreement between Israel and Syria.

"Freedom of movement and the safety and security of UNDOF should be respected by all parties," said the statement, as quoted by Xinhua.

According to Vitaly Churkin, Russia's Ambassador to the United Nations--to assume the rotating Presidency of the Security Council's President for March and read out a press statement regarding the events on Wednesday morning, "there are demands" put forward by the catcher.

Churkin also said the talks have been held between officials of the UNITED NATIONS peacekeeping forces and the U.N. soldiers who arrested them. (C003)
