PM urges India to join trade unions cancel strike nationwide

New Delhi (Reuters)-India's Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Sunday called for unions to cancel a national strike centers over the past two days which will start on February 20.

A total of 11 unions in India protest "is not an act of" Government about the price increase, the withdrawal of investments in the sector of society and violations allegedly committed against rule ketenaga-TODO.

"I called the central unions to revoke their appeal for a general strike across the country on 20 and 21 February. Such a strike would lead to a loss in our economy and society's discomfort as a result of the occurrence of interruptions of services, "said the Prime Minister in a statement.

PRIME MINISTER of India said he planned to conduct a discussion with senior cabinet ministers, according to the Xinhua report. The process will "produce a line of action which could be accepted by both sides--the Government and the unions".

India's inflation rate hit 10 percent and the Government has raised the prices of gasoline and diesel fuel a couple of times during the past year.
