Pedro Verona Pires was said to have helped the tiny country out of poverty during his presidency, which ended earlier this year. He was commended for helping turn it into a model of democracy and stability. The prize was created in 2007 but this is only the third time it's been presented, with the committee saying in 2009 and 2010 that no leader had met the criteria.It was Ramzan Kadyrov. The Chechen leader and his forces are accused by human rights activists of torture and murder of opponents. Ms Swank issued the statement after Human Rights Watch criticised her, along with fellow guests Belgian actor Jean Claude Van Damme and British violinist Vanessa Mae.It's US journalist, author and television presenter Barbara Walters - who is her second cousin. She was among the guests at the wedding.
