22 October 2011 Last updated at 23:32 GMT The SNP is using the final day of its conference to reveal details of its strategy to win independence.
The party's Westminster leader, MP Angus Robertson, will be laying out a roadmap for independence to delegates in Inverness.
The Scottish government is staging a referendum on the issue towards the end of the current, five-year parliament.
Mr Robertson will tell delegates that independence is the next logical step for Scotland.
His address comes a day after SNP leader Alex Salmond's keynote conference speech, in which he sought to rally party supporters ahead of the referendum.
Mr Robertson, who is running the campaign for the SNP, will seek to add some substance to the plan.
The political shape of the country, he will say, has changed radically in little more than a decade, and it is now time to take the "logical next step" by moving Scotland on and grasping the opportunities offered by the independence other countries enjoy.
