Vatican City (Reuters)-Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina was elected Pope on Wednesday to lead the Roman Catholic Church, a church trustee announced to the crowd of people who gathered at St. Peter 's. He took the name Pope Francis, said the Cardinal, Reuters report. the Cardinals choose Bergoglio on the second day secret conclave to elect a successor to Pope Benedict XVI, who abdicated unexpectedly last month.
