France now has nearly 600 soldiers in the Central African Republic, the country's former colonial power which is being hit by the war.

But President Francois Hollande declared that France's forces would not interfere in the internal affairs of the country.

On Sunday, rebels controlled Bangui Francois Bozize and President is rumored to have fled the capital of the Central African Republic.

Central African Republic rebels started fighting again after the deadline given to the Government to meet their demands in accordance with the peace agreement comes to an end.

Seleka said rebels would not withdraw the troops unless the Government frees political prisoners and prisoners-South Africa forces leave the country.

Pakistan-Palestine Joint Commission forms

Islamabad (Reuters)-Pakistan and the Palestinians have agreed to form a joint Commission made up of Foreign Ministers of the two countries in order to expand the existing political cooperation to other areas, according to local media reports.

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, during talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Islamabad, Pakistan, said the Joint Commission would soon be established formally.

Presidential spokesman Farhatullah Babar said Zardari's Pakistan also offers grants amounting to one million u.s. dollars for the construction of a Palestinian Embassy in Islamabad.

Zardari said the two rounds of talks were held covering a number of issues ranging from the status of a Palestinian State was fought until the issue of bilateral and the situation in the Middle East until the peace process bogged down.

At least that's what Obama must be thinking, as the White House has just appointed the "Whenever, Wherever" singer to the President's Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics, according to a statement released on Wednesday.

While this appointment probably comes as a surprise to many — if not all — people out there who associate Shakira with the Grammys and soccer, the singer has actually been heavily involved in children's programs in Latin America. There's the Barefoot Foundation, which she founded,  which creates schools and educational projects in Colombia, South Africa, and Haiti. Also, according to the White House's statement, she was made "a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund in 2003, where she promotes the expansion and improvement of comprehensive early childhood care and education across the world.”

The commission — which will also include former Montgomery Board of Education president Nancy Navarro, executive director of the Partnership for Community Action Adrián A. Pedroza and the superintendent of a high school district in Phoenix Dr. Kent P. Scribner — will advise Obama and Education Secretary Arne Duncan on issues related to the educational success of Hispanic students.
